Be creative with the letters of the alphabet! Every week we will provide you with exercises that represents each letter of the alphabet. The goal of this challenge is to bring a sense of purpose to your exercise and ride with intention, having the particular word in mind. The exercises can be executed in many different ways. Try to be open-minded!
B – Balance
Balance is one of the three cornerstones for achieving a good position in the saddle. As a rider you need to learn the ability to keep and maintain your balance and rhythm on a moving horse in all gaits.
Balance can also be the balance between your body, mind and thoughts, balance between your aids and balance in how you plan your riding session.
Try this exercise with balance in mind and bring awareness to the body. Before entering the exercise, begin with a quick “body scan” exercise. Start to bring your attention to the position of your feet, knees, thighs, up to your seat, notice your weight distribution, all the way to your trunk, shoulders and neck. Repeat a few times, both in walk, trot and canter. Connect to your balanced position and try keeping the alignment throughout the exercise.
